| “the
hit comedy for anyone
who
ever had a mother”
A smash hit
on two continents, Mum’s The Word is an award-winning theatre
piece written by six women who have endured the agonies and ecstasies
of parenting. A hysterically funny and poignant play, it deals in
shocking detail with all the important elements of childrearing
with which those who are already parents will immediately identify,
including every parent’s daily immersion in “bathwater,
food, spit, snot, blood, vomit, urine and faeces”.
Originally
produced in Canada, where the authors live, the play has had five
sell-out seasons in Vancouver and completed two Canadian tours,
culminating in its resounding success at the 2001 Just For Laughs
Festival in Montreal. The show has also run for three years in Australia,
commencing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and touring
to this day. There have also been productions in New Zealand and
throughout America, most recently in Chicago and Minneapolis.
